So! Seeing as I find myself unemployed again, and the job market is not great, and I love drawing a lot more than anything else I'm currently qualified for, I'm opening art commissions until further notice. :)

COMMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR WONDERFUL COMMISSIONS, GUYS!

Okay, I thiiiiink that does it. Did I leave anything out? Anything I didn't cover? If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know!

Now, let's see if all my coding worked. The tables look wonky on DW for some reason; they look fine on LJ.
I wanna be where the people are

So, who else is going to Emerald City Comic-Con? Cos it looks like I'll be there on Saturday (much to my surprise and with many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] maxxim_huzzah).

Also, I realize that for most of my friends, St. Paddy's Day falls on a work night, but is there anyone who is free and would like to hang out and get a drink or two?

:DDDDD
I want to apologize right now if I am in a bad mood with anyone today. I ran out of my medication night before last, and am unlikely to get a refill before tonight at the earliest. So it's just as well I'm planning to spend the day on the couch with video games, beef stroganoff and minimal human contact, but just in case. :/ It's not been pleasant in the past when I'm in withdrawal, for me or fr those around me.

It's not been the best week, but for some reason, I've found that liberal amounts of Fall Out Boy have been a very effective salve. I know they're supposed to be an emo band and all that, but they just make me happy. XD

And I'm going to a group interview tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] pinstripesuit makes my life better in so many ways, linking me to thiis being only the most recent example. NNGH. (Worksafe, but if you like pretty ladies in Victorian menswear then you might end up with a nosebleed all the same).
OMG you guys, LEGO Rock Band is the cutest thing. Played it with [livejournal.com profile] sjen last night. Aaah, little LEGO Freddie Mercury, my heart~ While I was there, Sjen also very kindly loaded up my new external (500GB, fully portable, her name is Vienna and she is SO SEXY) with a bunch of new shows to watch, including White Collar and Human Target, and also some new anime called Durarara!!, which is apparently by the Baccano! team? And like Baccano! has a million characters and nonlinear storytelling and lots of violence and lightheartedness mixed together. So. That'll be fun. Also I feel compelled to watch any show which can be abbreviated as DRRR.

I am making progress on the Sherlock Holmes front: I'm now on "HIs Last Bow", which is actually not the last but the second to last book. Is it just my imagination, or does this series just get gayer and gayer as it goes on? First "The Dying Detective" (which is gonna break my heart when I watch the Brett version, I tell you, BREAK MY GODDAMN HEART) and then, last night, as I was listening to "The Devil's Foot", I just about died of happiness. These books, you guys. I love them so. ♥

It's been a while! Sorry about that. I'm especially sorry to those of you still waiting on commissions; I do hope to get to them in time, but since I started the new job I just haven't had the energy to work on finished projects; all I've managed have been little five-minute sketches. But there have at least been plenty of those! But yes, commissions are currently closed otherwise; thank you so, so much to everyone who has commissioned me. I've loved drawing for you and I hope you're pleased with the results. ♥

Now, to (hopefully) get more into the art posting habit again, here's an assortment of sketchbook pages ranging back to November. There's all kinds of stuff in here, ranging from Shadow Hearts to Sherlock Holmes, interspersed with plenty of D&D related art and stuff based off whatever I happened to be reading orw atching or playing at the time. Twenty-two pages in all! Whoof.

Under here, all worksafe except for a little kissing and artistic nudity )

The pink line shows the route [personal profile] loquacious and I took today as we walked around north Seattle. 9.39 miles, fueled only by oatmeal, water and cupcakes. I'm gonna sleep well tonight. ♥

Finished my first week of full time! Start on the second tomorrow. Doing all right so far; wish me luck!
No... make that two donuts!

I'm still sick, and in fact I'm sicker now than I was earlier in the week (my cold having finally made the jump from throat to sinuses at some point on Saturday), but none of that matters now because I have full-time employment for the first time in my life. 40 hours a week, Saturday through Wednesday, doing basically what I've been doing already. My boss and I didn't discuss pay today, but even if I only continue at my current wage, I'll sill be making more money than I ever have in my life. Oh my goodness gracious, I'm so excited! :DDD

Also saw Sherlock Holmes for the third time last night, this time with [personal profile] sigelphoenix and [livejournal.com profile] lunapome ohlordy why do I have suh a huge boner for this moviiiiiie
I have made.... strawberry shortcake!!! Normally this wouldn't be such a big deal, but considering that (a) I originally intended to make pancakes but realized before starting that I had no eggs (prior to this morning I had had eggs, but no milk) and (2) I cocked up the batter by adding 1 2/3 cups of milk instead of 2/3 of a cup, I'd say it turned out pretty good!

I was not at all systematic in my approach; once I realized I'd screwed up, I added ....an amount of sugar and ...an amount of butter and... a certain quantity of pancake mix. VERY SCIENTRIFICAL. And then I poured it all into a cake pan seeing as (1) we seem to have no cookie sheets, a fact which had escaped my notice, and (b) the dough was too runny to hold together otherwise. So now my shortcake is... actually a cake! That you can cut up and put strawberries and cream on! And, despite my best efforts, I think it's pretty tasty! :D

I have single-handedly managed to wrest a good result from... something which should never have been this difficult in the first place. ^^:

Also, my boss called today and asked me if I'd like to meet on Monday about starting to work full time AAAAAHHHHHH
Stolen from [personal profile] wonderseal. Because iTunes is at least as fun to divine the future with as animal entrails, and it's a lot less messy.

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?

So, here's how it works:

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...
7. When you're finished tag some other people to do it!

Comes with handy YouTube links, so you can fully appreciate how hilarious some of these selections are. )

Guys. Guys. Guys. I don't know what the fuck is gonna be up with my wedding, but you are all invited.
Streaming Season 4 of Doctor Who on Netflix, and I was thinking of skipping "Midnight" cos I remembered not liking it too much, but now I'm glad I did because AAAHHH GRUMPY TEENAGE MERLIN AAAHHH

I wanna be where the people are
( Jan. 3rd, 2010 08:49 pm)
Anyone wanna go see Sherlock Holmes with me this week, specifically on Tuesday? Cos i am raring to see it again, and I'll bet I'm not the only one.

I'm free all day, so we could go to a matinee or an evening show, depending on who's free when. Who's up for it?

Also, I came home from work today and immediately passed out for 5 hours, having worked 24 hours out of the last 72, played D&D for for 12 of them, and slept for maybe 18. A nap was badly needed.
Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2010's been good to you so far, and continues to be so. I hope that for you, it's a year full of discovery, happiness and love; I hope that it's refreshing and new, and that, as Lucy of "Peanuts" puts it, we haven't been stuck with a 'used year'.

2009 was a big year for me, for a number of reasons. Here's a little retrospective on some of the things that made last year significant to me -- assuming I can remember what I was doing! orz my memory~

for auld lang syne )

As for New Year's resolutions, I've got a few. I'm resolved to do everything I can to find full-time employment this year, and to find an apartment with it's own washer-dryer, and that allows pets. I'm resolved to doubt myself less, to be more positive and loving, to have more faith in myself and more kindness for others. I'm resolved to continue working on my art, and get that website I'm working on with [livejournal.com profile] entropicdragon up and running. I'm resolved to keep working hard, and to live my life to the fullest. Cos I'm an adult now, even if I don't always feel like it, and the time is NOW.

Happy New Year's, everyone.
• Finished California visit. Trek exhibit was rad; my dad and I are huge dorks. Gave my mom Hot Fuzz & Mamma Mia! dvds, since her birthday's in two weeks and I am going to miss it. :< Il Fornaio makes delicious food. Airport security was more visible, but security checkpoint no more or less difficult than normal, and flight very on time. ♥ Southwest.

• Cleaned the apartment (or at least parts of it), desire to have a clean kitchen and non-cluttered living space finally having overcome desire to be lazy. Also cos it's the holidays and I wanted [personal profile] wonderseal to come home to a (relatively) clean apartment.

• Watched "Arsenic and Old Lace" for the first time. God, that's a funny film.

• Walked the 2 or 3 miles to [livejournal.com profile] lunapome & [livejournal.com profile] music_enforcer's apartment, which felt good for a number of reasons. Then went to see "Sherlock Holmes"! Which was rad, also for a number of reasons. I'm not sure who I have the bigger crush on: Holmes, Watson, or Adler. Mostly I want to see them all having lots of sex Of course, Mary can come too Also, Mark Strong was in Stardust, in case I'm not the only one who sat through the entire film wondering why the hell Blackwood looked so damn familiar

• Going to see [livejournal.com profile] niwatorimegami tomorrow while she is back from Japan! SO excited. ♥

• Still working on commissions! If slowly. Progress slowed even more by the fact that when I do sit down with a sketchbook lately I mostly want to draw characters from "Abhorsen" (I've come into possession of the audiobooks, read entirely by Tim Curry. NNGH.)

• Will likely forgo going to a number of glamorous New Year's Eve gatherings populated by people I like quite a lot, so that I can get to bed early in preparation for work at 9 on Friday and at 6 Saturday and Sunday. :< Seriously bummed about this, guys. D: Drink champagne for me! Or Martinelli's.
• I always seem to watch a lot of movies when I'm home with my family. On Monday my mom and brothers and I went to see "Invictus", which, if you haven't heard of it, is the one directed by Clint Eastwood, where Morgan Freeman plays Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon plays a lot of rugby. It was very well done: well-directed, well-acted, and well-timed. God was being pretty generous the day Mr. Eastwood came along. Then on Christmas Eve we all watched "It's A Wonderful Life" (forgoing our other traditional Christmas movie, "Die Hard"). It's amazing to me how well that movie has aged, that it can still make a pair of 18-year-old boys who are by this point almost surgically attached to their PSPs laugh out loud and cheer. It remains a really wonderful film, even 60 years after it was first released; perhaps that's why it's never been remade. And of course, everyone got DVDs for Christmas (I myself am now the proud owner of "Up"!) and so yesterday (after trying and failing to go see "Avatar" because parking was impossible and timing was poor) we watched "Star Trek" (the new one) and had a grand old time. Such a good movie (even if I'm not entirely happy with Uhura's characterization). And my dad got the Ultimate "Watchmen" DVD, which has the Tales of the Black Freighter segments incorporated into the complete film, and I want to watch it so baaaaaad. God, that movie makes me happy in so many ways.

• Despite the fact that I live in Seattle, on Christmas Eve I somehow managed to catch a cold while visiting (comparatively) warm NorCal. But, by some seasonal miracle, by Christmas morning I had almost completely recovered; now the only sneezing I do is the aftereffect of my cousin's adorable cats.

• Christmas was lovely; the morning was spent opening presents and having our traditional holiday breakfast (sans bacon, sadly, cos it had gone smelly, but my grandmother had brought pumpkin bread) and then over to my cousins' in San Francisco for more family and my cousin's amazing cooking. I'm so glad that I could spend this time with my family; as yet I have never spent a Christmas anywhere else, and I don't think it would be Christmas without them.

• I am now the proud owner of a sexy, sexy red 16GB iPod Nano, which I have christened Enzo. ♥

• My family now has Rock Band 2! My brothers and I spent last night working our way through tour mode, and they've already gotten much better with guitar and drums (although convincing them to try singing is still pretty difficult). Even my dad's been playing! And he's never played a video game in his life! :DDD It's so oddly adorable.

• Today is my dad's birthday, so we're going down to the Star Trek exhibit at the San Jose Tech Museum, and then to dinner... somewhere, not sure where. And tomorrow I fly back to Seattle.

Happy holidays, everyone. ♥

It's very part time; I'll be working at a supermarket deli downtown on Saturday and Sunday mornings. So I need to be prepared to be at work at 6 tomorrow (which, considering it's 7 now and still pitch-dark, is sure to make for a fun trip downtown, YAY MIDWINTER ON THE 48TH PARALLEL). But I'm not complaining; it's totally gonna be worth it for the extra cash each week, and I should still be able to work on art during the week. I'm going to continue looking for a full time job, of course, because I can't support myself on this alone, and having something with benefits would be nice.

Still, this is way, way better than nothing, and I'm so grateful for my friends who've supported me and helped me out. Thank you all so much.

omg omg omg

PART TIME JOB GET

Now, to celebrate with a BATH
Last night (or rather, early this morning) after [livejournal.com profile] casaval's awesome birthday party, I came home, got into bed, set my cell phone alarm for 11 AM, and, knowing that I have a tendency to shut off my alarm without fully waking up, tossed it across the room.

Cut to 2 PM. I wake up, wondering why my alarm didn't go off, and look around for my phone on the floor of my room. It isn't there. I ask [livejournal.com profile] pinstripesuit to call it, and when it starts ringing, I find it hidden by my comforter in my own bed.

So either at 11 this morning I managed to get out f bed, find the phone, bring it back to bed, turn it off, and fall asleep again with no memory of it whatsoever... or I have a haunted cell phone.

o_O
uwaaaaaa~! ☆__☆

Good on ya, Disney, for learning from your mistakes, subverting your own tropes, handling race in a way that I found both tasteful and inoffensive*, putting the emphasis back on story and character, bringing back your 2D department, and overall making a really good movie.

* Even if it did take you till 2009 to release a movie with a black main character, FFS

Now, to see if I can make it through Purgatory without dying.

By the way, to all my friends who've been so supportive of me while I've been looking for a job and freaking out over lack of said job -- thank you so much. I love you all, and I'm so grateful. ♥

Also, CONGRATULATIONS ONCE AGAIN TO [livejournal.com profile] lunapome and [livejournal.com profile] music_enforcer!
